During every sport season, several players are declared ineligible due to problems with the OFFICIAL ROSTERS. If a child is not totally cleared and given a yellow laminated card he/she will not be on the PGCBGC OFFICIAL ROSTER and therefore will be ILLEGALto play until he/she receives a Yellow Laminated Card.
The following should be checked on your rosters to avoid problems during your season:
Names are not listed on the Roster
Nick Names are used
Player’s do not reside in the Club’s area
Dues are not paid
To eliminate these problems, it is strongly recommended that prior to the first game coaches must check their rosters in person at our office. Please call 301-446-6800 to make an appointment with someone on our staff.
USA Football Level One and Level Two Certification
All Presidents, Athletics Directors, Membership Personnel, Football coaches and Assistants:
Beginning with the 2014 Football Season, head coaches and assistant coaches of ALL COUNTY TEAMS must complete the USA Football Level One and Level Two Certification. Coaches and team moms must also have a background check before coaching or going on the field. USA Football Certifications must be completed prior to the start of the regular season (Sept 6).
In addition, one coach on each team must have received USA Football’s Heads Up training and certification. Coaches completing USA Football Level One and Two training plus Heads Up training will receive an orange badge. An Orange Badge MUST be present on the sidelines for each team in order to play. If no coaches with an orange badge are present on the sidelines, the team will forfeit the game.
The Prince George’s County Boys & Girls Club believes in safety and has gone through great measures to ensure our football program and its participants are operating in a safe manner and environment. To this end, we have embraced USA Footballs’ Heads UP program and instituted new requirements and procedures to ensure our coaches are teaching proper safety techniques to reduce injuries. This year, all unit clubs MUST have a Player Safety Coach designated and trained and EACH team must have a trained coach on the field at all times. All coaches must have taken and passed the USA Football Level One Certification course as well as the Level Two Player Development course appropriate for the age group they are coaching.
A handful of your programs haven’t signed up for Heads Up Football® and/or haven’t nominated their PSC.
Association/clubs that need to sign up for Heads Up Football® & nominate their PSC (STEP 1 below):
· Camp Spring
· Capitol Heights/Seat Pleasant
· Fort Washington
· New Carrolton
· Port Towns
· Silver Hill
· South Bowie
The above programs are advised to follow the instructions below to sign up for Heads Up Football® and nominate their PSC. When signing up – they will nominate their PSC – please ensure if it’s the PSC that attended a training – an accurate email for the PSC is needed. This is one of the reasons they may not be showing up on our Dashboard – for example, a PSC may have attended, yet is not showing up on our Dashboard, because that organization hasn’t signed up for Heads Up Football®.
During the clubs’ registration for Heads Up Football® once the commissioner begins typing in the name of his club, they should see their respective name pop up – have them select it (ensure it is the right one – there are a lot of similar named youth programs, i.e. Allentown.
Share the Coach Membership code you received upon Heads Up Football® registration with head & assistant coaches. (All head & assistant coaches will complete Level 1 tackle certification or recertification quiz and Level Two, development training—the recertification is for your coaches that already took the longer course last year.
In a final effort to get as many untrained Heads Up Football® Player Safety Coaches trained, USA Football is hosting two Heads Up Football® PSC Training Clinics in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C.-Northern Virginia area next Saturday and Sunday. Any untrained PSC coaches from Prince George’s County Boys & Girls Clubs must attend one of the PSC training:
The 13- 15 year old Junior Division won the RBI Mid-Atlantic Regional baseball tournament last weekend and is heading to Arlington, TX to play in the RBI World Series compliments of Major League Baseball/RBI. CTV interviewed myself and a couple of players on Tuesday for a program, “Around the Diamond” with Marvin Jackson. The program will aired on Wednesday, July 30 at 7:30 PM and on Friday, August 1 at 8:00 PM and again on Saturday at 4:00 PM, August 2, 2014. CTV channels are channel 76 on Comcast and channel 42 on Verizon. If you are interested in learning about RBI and seeing two mature and articulate players express themselves then you should watch, “Around the Diamond” with Marvin Jackson. Thanks for your support!

Reviews.com has been working with many youth development organizations to provide educational resources for students and families. We all know how important the SATs and ACTs are. It can be the deciding factor of whether or not a student gets into the college they want. Many families turn to test preparation courses, but finding the right one can be a confusing process. Reviews.com has developed a Test Prep resource for families so that they can make informed decisions. This resource features a comprehensive guide, expert ratings, data-driving comparisons, and unbiased reviews to help families choose the SAT/ACT prep course that best suits their students and hopefully help them get into college by helping them succeed when taking the SATs or ACTs.
