FALL SOFTBALL REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN!
by posted 07/28/2010

Dear Redding-Easton Softball Families,

As our summer softball season winds down, it's time to start looking toward next year. And our 2011 Softball Program starts with Fall Ball!

Online registration for the 2010 RESB Fall Ball program is NOW OPEN.

The Fall Ball season begins in September and runs through October.

Each of our teams will play a "travel" schedule versus neighboring towns within our Little League District 1, as well as Brookfield, Bethel, Newtown, etc. Games and practices will be held on Saturdays and Sundays, and home games will be played at the Redding Boys & Girls Club and/or Helen Keller M.S. fields in Easton. We are also planning to include skills clinics led by instructors from a local softball training facility.

The focus of our Fall Program is on preparing our girls for the 2011 Spring and Summer seasons, which means all girls will be placed in the age division in which they will be playing next year. We will have three divisions:

Juniors: (for all girls with birth dates in 1996-1997)

Majors: (birth dates in 1998-1999)

Minors: (birth dates in 2000, 2001 and 2002)

Fall Ball Fee's

SOFTBALL
$95 per player, which will cover jerseys, umpire fees, insurance, and field maintenance costs.

Scroll down to select the fall softball registration.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions. We'll see you in September!

Positive Coaching Seminars: ALL RBGC SPORTS
by posted 12/07/2009

Dear RBGC Baseball and Softball Coaches,

As we announced last week, the Redding Boys & Girls Club has partnered with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to help support coaches of every sport run by the Club.

For Baseball and Softball, we are adding the PCA workshops to the required curriculum that ALL of our Coaches must complete -- along with updated and improved Frozen Ropes sessions -- in order to coach in 2010. The primary focus of the PCA workshops is to help us strike the balance between preparing our kids to compete and win, while also teaching them life lessons on the field. And as you already know, the Frozen Ropes sessions are intended to help us teach baseball and softball skills.

This coming season, we are requiring every coach to attend one PCA Workshop and one Frozen Ropes clinic. And, to make these requirements easier on all of us, we will hold at least two sessions of each here in Redding, rather than asking you to spend two hours a week for three consecutive weeks at the Frozen Ropes facility in Danbury.

Also, we have invited the head coaches of the Joel Barlow High baseball and softball programs to lead sport-specific breakout meetings at the first PCA session. That said, we strongly encourage you to attend the first PCA Workshop on January 9, in order to take part in the baseball and softball breakout meetings with coaches Jeff Rago and Annmarie Gorman.

Please RSVP by returning this email to me.
Again, the first PCA Workshop will be held:
The next PCA session is for Parents:

Saturday, March 13th

Parents - how to teach life lessons through sports, including:

· Recognition of the three major stages of talent development in
                 youth athletes

· Engaging in empowering conversations with your children

· Structuring a positive parent/coach relationship.

Time:  10 AM  to 12 PM
Location: Joel Barlow High School, Cafeteria

Again, our PCA Workshops are open to head coaches and assistant coaches for every RBGC sport: Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, and Volleyball!

Thank you,

Carlos Collazo,
Executive Director
Redding Boys & Girls Club

Thunder & Lightning Policy
by posted 05/27/2008

The official RBGC thunder & lightning policy is as follows:

Teams should get off the fields and seek shelter if THUNDER is heard.

Teams should not return to the field for 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder.

Teams should not wait until lightning is visible.

Coaches and Managers need to follow these rules without exception.

NOTE: The Baseball & Softball Committee or other RBGC Board Members are authorized to call games due to weather and/or darkness.

Thank you,
RBGC Baseball & Softball Committee
