Homegrown Middle School Winter Training Programs

About: Homegrown's Middle School Winter Training Programs offer local players the chance to keep their sticks moving during the winter months and prepare for the spring season. Each session features progressive position specific instruction as well as high repition skill drills. Every minute of field time is used to heighten player's on-field IQ while building endurance and lacrosse specific muscle memory. The clinic is run by Homegrown's senior staff which is comprised of professional players as well as current and former MCLA and NCAA coaches. Registration is open to players with a strong desire to improve their game.

Dates: Tuesdays, Jan. 5th – Feb. 23rd
Times:  4:30 – 6:00 p.m.
Availability: 50 O/D, 6 Goalies

South: Soccer Blast, Burnsville. Click for Directions
Dates: Wednesdays, Jan 6th – Feb. 24th
Times: 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Availability: 60 O/D, 8 Goalies

West: Armstrong Community Youth Lacrosse Association (ACYLA) Youth Clinic @ the Plymouth Dome, Plymouth.*Staffed by Homegrown.
Dates: Thursdays, Jan. 7th – Feb. 25th
Times: 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.

Ages: Boys currently in 6th, 7th or 8th grade

Skill Level: Intermediate-skill to advanced-skill levels recomended.

Campers Receive:
* 12 hours of offensive / defensive / goalie specific training.
* Personalized instruction (1 : 8 Coach to Player)
* Position specific take-home training program with drills and ideas to help with your development.
* A limited edition HG Helmet Sticker, Performance Shooting Shirt and Water Bottle.

Participation Fee: $185

 MTkalax Girls Dome Lacrosse Clinic

 
New players are welcome. Players will be separated by skill level and years of experience. This is an excellent way to try the fastest growing girl’s sport in the United States.  The emphasis at each level will be on FUN! Learn today’s most advanced and innovative women’s lacrosse skills with instruction by experts.  

Each week will include small-sided games and drills that emphasize individual stick skills, defensive strategies, and offensive tactics. Age and experience dependent drills and games will make up each 90 minute session. All sessions are designed to ensure maximum ball touches for every player! 
 
Location: Tonka Dome, Minnetonka High School
 
Grades: Girls Youth 3rd - 8th Grade
 
Dates:  6:00-7:30pm, Mondays Nov. 30, Dec.7, Dec.14 and Dec.21
 
Costs
  • 3rd – 4th Grade: $45 per player includes the $25 US Lacrosse membership
  • 5th – 8th Grade: $110 per player (requires separate purpchase of $25 annual membership with US Lacrosse http://www.lacrosse.org ) 
  • Goalies:  $50 Refund for attending all four sessions
Required Equipment: a girl’s lacrosse stick,lacrosse goggles and a mouth guard (not clear). We will have a limited number of sticks and goggles available for use by new players; please bring your own mouth guard.

Who else has played box lacrosse?
Almost every famous lacrosse player has or is currently playing box lacrosse. It’s a lot of fun, and it simply takes your skills to the next level.
 
Colin Achenbach grew up playing in the Dakota Box Lacrosse League in Apple Valley, MN. Now he’s representing his home state in a Swarm uniform!

What are some of the important dates?
Registration opens December 1st, 2009
Deadline for team submission is February 15th, 2010
Pre-season player and coaches clinics are set for Sunday, March 7th
- these clinics will feature Swarm players at each session
- the Swarm coaching staff will run the coaches clinic
Season will start mid-March and run through the end of May
YBL Showcase is set for Sat, April 24th at the Xcel Energy Center
- players will get to show their skills on the Xcel’s turf before a Swarm home game
YBL Playoffs will start during the 2nd week of May
